Still tracking severe storms in portions of Southern Ohio. Severe Thunderstorm Warnings continue for Pike, Ross and Highland Counties in Ohio.
This activity produced a Tornado Warning about 45 minutes ago from this posting. I wanted to share with you a couple of images from the storm that produced a Tornado Warning in Adams County, Ohio.
Notice the core of this storm at the time was producing up to baseball sized hail all the way up to 40,000 feet!!! This storm also was showing strong roation on the 3D image. Notice the column coming down on the radar. This is a good indication to us that some type of roation is occuring in this storm.
The next feature on radar is circled above. Can you guess what this is called? It's called a hail spike or three body scatter spike. These are the result of energy from the radar hitting hail, or very heavy rain, and being reflected to the ground, where they reflect back to the hail and then to the radar. This helped show us that this particular cell meant business and was producing major hail.
More showers and thunderstorm continue to move into the region. A FLASH FLASH FLOOD WATCH CONTINUES throughout the night.
